I love modulation.
The first pedal I designed, nearly 25 years ago, was the Moon Phaser.
The first pedal I designed that got us major recognition was the Empress Chorus, when Andy Summers used it exclusively on the Police reunion tour back in 2006.
So it’s safe to say that I’m a fan of both Chorus and Phase shifting.
Which got me thinking…. There have been chorus pedals mixed with flanging. There have been chorus pedals mixed with vibrato. There have been phase pedals mixed with vibrato. There have been pedals that package an independent phaser and an independent chorus in one box. But… There has not been a pedal that combines chorus and phasing as one magical effect…
Until now.
The Xyolia Choral Phase does just that. It incorporates both all analog Chorus and all analog Phase in one pedal, with a synced LFO (velocity control) on the sweep and independent controls for Depth and Mix for both Chorus and Phase. The Depth control on the phase is actually a little more than just depth - it determines where the pulse is happening - whether it's a throbby phase or a shimmery phase! Collectively this opens the door to almost limitless permutations of the two modulation forms, combined as one.
The synced Velocity control means the pulse of the chorus and the swirl of the phaser are transmogrified into one, gorgeous, new sound.
