I have always had a special place in my heart for chorus.
When Andy Summers elected to use our Empress Chorus Vibrato as his sole chorus pedal for the Police reunion world tour I was elated. To say the least.
Our Empress Chorus has long been loved by some of the worlds greatest players, who searched for a gorgeous, true analog chorus or vibrato sound.
The Plurious Chorus offers all the sounds of the Empress, but more… so much more.
I designed the Plurious to be the most versatile, beautiful sounding analog chorus pedal available in the world today. Quieter, Deeper, Subtler, Wilder.
A new chapter in analog chorus.
100% Analog
The Plurious uses a Bucket Brigade Chip (B.B.D.) to create it’s sublime modulation majesty.
The Empress used a 1024 stage BBD. The Plurious uses a 2048 stage BBD. This simply means that you can get the same chorus sounds as the Empress, but much quieter.
And…. if you wanted even more extreme chorus or vibrato wobbles, you can get that too.
So much more wobble than the Empress. Twice as much, in fact.
The Unique Voice Control
The biggest thing that sets the Plurious apart from other chorus pedals is the “Voice” control. Delay time determines the “flavor” of the chorus. Most chorus pedals have a fixed delay time. A few offer one or two settings.
Plurious offers you all the settings.
The delay time is on a dial – allowing you to choose from the most subtle shimmer to an all out apocalypse of pitch shifting insanity.
Getting Deep
The depth control has been expanded dramatically – offering everything from the tiniest of delicate pulses to the most crazy, warped plunges you could imagine.
Era
The Era control switch allows you to choose between a 1970’s Boss CE-1-esque tone to a more modern, contemporary crisp chorus sound.
What’s the Vibe?
Toggle between chorus and vibrato with the top switch. An almost infinite palette of vibrato tones.
Veloce
This controls the speed of the modulation pulse - from incredibly slow (over a minute to trun through the entire cycle) to ring modishly fast. Incredibly intuitive and useable.
Redefining Reliability
From the premium components used, to the way in which the pedal is constructed. A pedal that will never need to go near a repair shop. Unsurpassed reliability.
With a lifetime guarantee upon registering your pedal.
How do we achieve that reliability?
- 100,000 Cycle, True Bypass Footswitch
Most stop box footswitches are guaranteed for a lifecycle of between 20,000 and 30,00 cycles. The switch we use in the Plurious is guaranteed for over 100,000 cycles.
- Neutrik Sockets
Stand alone, ultra-premium Neutrik jack sockets ensure a lifetime of joyful, trouble-free connection.
- Hand-wired sockets and footswitch
Whereas most pedals use PCB mounted jacks (and some even mount the footswitch on the same PCB), the Plurious hand wires the footswitch board, DC sockets and jack sockets.
Whilst being a lot more labor intensive in construction, this method guarantees substantially greater pedal durability and strength than the cheaper, and more prone to failure “all mounted on one PCB” approach
I hate the concept of “planned obsolescence”. The idea that a product is only intended to last a few years in order to ensure future purchases.
Every pedal in the Apothecary series is designed as the antithesis to that notion.
I designed the Apothecary series to last a lifetime. That’s why, when you register your pedal, the electronics and mechanisms are guaranteed for a lifetime of use.
I wanted to design a pedal that you can bequeath to your kids.
So I did.
I personally test and hand sign every Plurious that leaves our workshop.
Housed in a diecast enclosure featuring gorgeous, machined aluminum knobs, unique to the Apothecary series, inspiring, vivid artwork and topped off with a beautiful LED, color matched to the pedals color scheme.
Made with enormous love in New Zealand.
