MAGESTERIA Handmade Delay

The Embodiment of Tape Delay Glory

I have always loved tape delays. Forever woven into the most iconic music: Jimmy Page, Edward Van Halen, Hank Marvin, Brian May, Robert Fripp, Rory Gallagher, Bob Marley and Johnny Greenwood, to name a few.

An invitation to a form of time travel, in real time. The precursor to every other form of extended delay in the world of guitar effects.

Often named as guitar players favourite effect (in no small part due to the myriad of ways it can change the sound of the guitar – from short slap back echos, to self-oscillating soundscapes disappearing into a chaos of regeneration upon regeneration) delay opens the door to a sonic canvas, inaccessible by any other means.

Whilst many delay options have appeared since the advent of the tape echo, nothing quite captures the gorgeous frequency shift in repeats and the delicate wobble of the tape over the heads like a tape machine.

My personal top three tape echos are the Maestro Echoplex EP3, the Roland Space Echo and the Watkins Copicat.

Each of these sublime devices offers different, beautiful and unique facets.

I decided to create a pedal that encapsulates the beauty of all three.

The Magesteria Handmade Delay.

Magesteria offers the same exquisite high frequency roll off on the repeats and warm tape like saturation as those iconic mechanical boxes of yesteryear.

Improving on a perfect thing:

The one limitation of the tape echo was its maximum delay time. Most tape echos could only offer a maximum of 500-600m/sec delay. Magesteria addresses this with its expansive 55 m/sec - 1100 m/sec maximum delay time setting.

Magesteria allows you to invoke the magic of self-oscillation via the repeat control. Set it for a single repeat or dial it up to enter the world of sound upon sound upon sound upon sound upon sound…..

The Wow/ Flutter dial lets you determine the amount of wow and flutter (the unique, asymmetrical pitch shift found in all tape delays) effecting the repeats.

Inside the Magesteria is a small “mode” slide switch.  This switch offers two wow and flutter modes: Echoplex mode and Watkins Copicat Mode.

Echoplex Mode– asymmetrical, slower speed.
Copicat Mode – faster wow and flutter – more “shimmery” at shorter delay times.

Magesteria offers the same “warble” effect found in tape delays when shifting between delay times. The sound of the delays “catching up” with the new setting.

Finally, an internal trimpot allows you to dial in the pedals gain to match your pickups.

It’s an incredibly musical sounding pedal.
A brilliant addition to any tone sculptor’s palate.

Each one of the Magesteria is hand built, numbered and signed by me Ben Fulton using full sized, through hole components.

I’m using high spec Neutrik jack sockets that are hand wired in. The super high quality true bypass foot-switch is independent from the main PCB – offering much more durability and resilience.

Guaranteed to last a lifetime.

I’m only building 89 of these pedals. Once they have sold out, there will be no more.

Don’t miss out on the opportunity to own an extraordinary sounding, super limited edition delay pedal.

All orders will ship via DHL International express tracked courier service.

Freight on your Magesteria order is free, anywhere in the world.
